Hamburger Hashbrown Casserole

This casserole is one of our family favorites and very easy to make. When the our children moved away from home they would call for recipe and made it regularly. It makes a large quantity, so now I normally make in two separate casseroles and freeze one.

Ingredients:

1 lb. ground beef (lean)
1 medium onion (chopped)
1 - 2 tsp. season salt (Hys or Lawry’s)
1 pkg brown gravy mix
1 cup of water
1 bag of frozen diced hash browns (907 grams or 32 oz) - thawed
2 cans (284 ml) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
2 cups medium cheddar cheese (or more)
2 cans French’s fried onions

Instructions:

Brown beef, onions  and seasoning salt in a frying pan; drain, stir in gravy mix and water and continue to cook until  thickened; place hamburger mixture in a large bowl. Add hash browns, soup, sour cream, cheese, stir combine. Spread into a 9” X 13” casserole pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 30 minutes. Top with French’s fried onions and bake for 15 minutes longer. 8-10 servings.

Note: You can be creative with this recipe and add any type of spices,  green/red pepper, garlic or whatever you have on hand.
