Scalloped Potatoes

As a kid I remember my Mom making scalloped potatoes but not quite the same way. She would layer the sliced potatoes and then sprinkle with flour and then pour milk over top. Not exactly creamy and smooth!!! More often then not the scalloped potatoes were either too dry or too watery and sometimes the flour was still visible. Although quick and simple, definitely not tasty!! This recipe uses a simple white sauce that guarantees creamy smooth scalloped potatoes every time.

Mini Tourtiere Appetizers

These little morsels are quite yummy and are great appetizers as you can make them ahead and freeze and you can adjust the seasonings. I have made the tourtiere version many times at Christmas along with the curry ones and always receive rave reviews.

Boyfriend Cookies

This recipe was adapted and modified from a recipe I found on another blog sinfulsouthernsweets.blogspot.ca and the author's write up is as follows: "Boyfriend Cookies. Yes, that's right. Why do I call them Boyfriend Cookies? Well...for several reasons, 1)They're so good, they just MIGHT land you a boyfriend 2) They're sooo good, you might trade your boyfriend for one more cookie :) 3) They're so good, you might just forget you want/need a boyfriend. But also, not to be forgotten 4)If you have a boyfriend, and he doesn't like these, it might be a good indicator that you need to kick him to the curb....because something has just got to be wrong with him!! They are that good." After reading I just had to make them and see for myself and yes they are very good.

Granola Muffins

I love granola and muffins, so when I found this recipe combining the two I had to try it. This muffin is very tasty and satisfying. I used our granola recipe from this blog, it is loaded with nuts, seeds, dried cranberries and currants, but you can buy a store brand and add cranberries and currants.
