Slow Cooker BBQ Beef on a Bun

I absolutely love this recipe. It not only tastes great but it is very versatile. Great in the winter after a cold day or in the summer when the thought of turning the oven on is the last thing on your list. Wonderful for large group gatherings and easy enough for a week night meal. Leftovers freeze well. This recipe will become one of your favourites!!!

Slow Cooker BBQ Beef on a Bun

Ingredients:

21/2-3 pounds inexpensive beef roast
1 Tablespoon instant beef bouillon granules
1 chopped onion
½ chopped green pepper
2 celery stalks chopped
¼ teaspoon ground pepper
71/2 oz. can tomato sauce
1 Cup BBQ sauce
½ Cup brown sugar
Fresh buns

Directions:

Put roast in a suitably sized crock pot. Sprinkle beef bouillon granules, onion, green pepper, celery and black pepper over roast. Cover with lid and cook on high for approximately eight hours or until beef is tender enough to shred and break apart.
Combine tomato sauce, bbq sauce, brown sugar and pour over beef, shred and mix.
Bake in slow cooker for one more hour.
Serve bbq beef on buns with a salad such as coleslaw.
Variation: If you don’t have beef bouillon granules you can substitute 1 ¼ oz. or 35 gram package of dry onion soup mix.
If you do not have a slow cooker, bake in oven at 250 degrees F. for approximately 8 hours.
