Apple Crisp with Toffee Sauce

This is comfort food at it's best!! What sets this apple crisp apart from other recipes is the light cream mixed into the apples and the warm toffee sauce drizzled over top, delicious!!!!



Ingredients:

½ Cup granulated sugar

¼ Cup flour

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon salt

1 Cup half & half cream or light cream

1 Tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

8 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (I used frozen sliced apples from my tree)

1 ½ Cups flour

1 Cup packed brown sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

¾ Cup cold butter




Toffee Sauce:

1 Cup packed brown sugar

½ Cup butter

½ Cup half & half or light cream




Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large bowl mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt.

Gradually add cream and lemon juice, stir until well combined.

Add apples to cream mixture.

Pour apple mixture into prepared pan.


Mix together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.

Cut in butter with a pstry blender until mixture is crumbly.

Spread over apples.

Bake for 45 minutes.


Toffee Sauce:

Combine sauce ingredients in a saucepan and stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved.

Simmer until sauce thickens.

Serve the apple crisp with the warm toffee sauce drizzled over top, delicious!!
Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt.

Add lemon juice and cream.

Stir to combine.

Add apples and pour into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
In another bowl mix together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.Cut in cold butter until mixture is crumbly.

Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake for  45 minutes.


In  a small saucepan combine butter, brown sugar and cream.
Cook over medium low heat until sugar is dissolved.

Continue cooking sauce until it thickens.

Pour warm sauce over warm apple crisp.
