Steak Wraps

These steak wraps are flavoured with Teriyaki, fresh giner and a little Szechuan heat!! I even kick it up more with Sriracha chili sauce!! We like our food hot and spicy at my house but you can adjust the heat to your tastes. These wraps are tasty and satisfying. I usually make a double recipe because they are great leftovers!

Ingredients:

½ pound sirloin steak, thinly sliced
4 Teaspoons minced/grated fresh ginger
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil, more if needed
1 medium red or white onion, thinly sliced
2 Cups sliced fresh mushrooms
½ red pepper sliced
½ green or yellow pepper sliced
1 ½ Cups cooked Basmati rice
¼ Cup Teriyaki sauce
1 Tablespoon hot and spicy Szechuan sauce
1 Cup bean sprouts
10 inch flour tortillas (4)

Directions:

  • Combine steak slices with ginger and let stand for at least 1 hour.
  • Heat oil in a large frying pan and saute the steak until nicely browned. Set aside the cooked steak.
  • Add a little more oil to the frying pan and saute onions for about 5 minutes. Then add mushrooms and cook until they are caramelized and yummy.
  • Add peppers and continue cooking until they are tender.
  • Add beef and stir to combine.
  • Stir in sauces.
  • Gently warm the tortilla in the microwave.
  • Place some rice on tortilla, followed by the beef and vegetable mixture. Top with bean sprouts and a little hot sauce if you like.
  • Roll up the tortilla tucking in the sides as you roll.
  • Cut in half and serve.
