Poppycock

This version of poppycock is soft and chewy and not overly sweet. Its great to give as gifts at Ch!ristmas time or any time. We must warn you that once you start eating this treat it is very hard to stop, Make a double batch



10 cups popped popcorn
2 cups unsalted nuts

½ cup clear corn syrup
1 ⅓ cups white sugar
1 cup butter

1 teas. vanilla

Mix corn syrup and sugar into melted butter. On low heat bring to boil, stirring constantly for 8 minutes. Remove from heat, add vanilla, stir and pour over nuts and popcorn. Mix well - spread onto a cookie sheet and cool - breaking into bite sized pieces.

Pop 10 cups of popcorn

Add two cups of mixed nuts


In a large sauce pan combine butter, corn syrup and sugar
On low heat bring to a rolling boil for 8 minutes.

Remove from heat and add vanilla.

Pour over the popcorn and nuts and mix well.
Spread onto a cookie sheet and cool - breaking into bite sized pieces.
This mixture is nice to give away as gifts at Christmas to co-workers, teachers etc.

  1. do you cook for 8 minutes once it has reached a boil or a total 8 minutes for start to finish?

  2. Once the mixture is boiling start the 8 minute time count.
