Apple Caramel Sheet Cake

I found this recipe on the "chef in training" website and made a couple of changes. Sheet cakes are great for potlucks or large crowds. This apple cake is very moist and has a salted caramel frosting. You can find our recipe for salted caramel sauce on the blog , however you can also purchase a store bought caramel topping. This cake literally melts in your mouth!

    Chocolate Zucchini Banana Muffins

Right now zucchini is growing like a wild fire in my garden and I am always looking for a new way of using it up. I also had a bunch of bananas that were in desperate need of being used or else they were going to become compost.   I searched the internet and found a lot of recipes for this combination. I guess I am not the only one who has an over abundance of banana and zucchini. These muffins are very moist and my family has given them the stamp of approval. Remember you do not have to peel the zucchini but you do have to remove the seeds, especially if you are using a big zucchini.

    Guacamole

This is my favourite guacamole recipe and it always gets rave reviews. It is loaded with flavour! I got the original recipe from The Barefoot Contessa". I like mine with some heat so I add Serrano chilies but that is definitely optional. Serve with taco chips, fajitas, burritos or tacos.

    Brooke's Famous Pico de gallo

Pico de gallo is simply fresh salsa. It is made fresh and served with taco chips. My daughter Brooke loves it and makes it often and this is her version. This is a small recipe but can be easily doubled or tripled etc. You can also serve with tacos as well.

    Zucchini Fritters

I grew three zucchini plants in my garden this year and if you are a gardener I am sure you know what that means. If you aren't a gardener, it means a lot of zucchini to say the least! This is a very good recipe, my family rated  them 10/10 so it doesn't get much better than that. These little babies are filled with not only zucchini but a little potato, bacon, green onions, garlic and cheese.  then fried in a little hot oil so they are nice and crispy. We like to eat them with a little sour cream and a little ketchup. I usually serve these at breakfast time but they could be a great appetizer as well. This recipe makes 12 small fritters/pancakes.

    Cheesesteak Sandwiches

This sandwich is loaded with thin griddled beef, onions, peppers and melted cheese. It is a family favourite in my house. The secret ingredient is Sawmill Sesame Steak Sauce. My family cannot eat a steak without it, so I figured it belongs in this sandwich too. You can buy the sauce in most grocery stores. If you cannot find it the sandwich will still taste good without it.
