Candy Cane Popcorn

This is a simple delicious treat to make for Christmas. My favourite popcorn to use is called "mushroom" popcorn, the kernels are big, perfect for this kind of treat. If you are from Edmonton there is a kitchen store called Barb's Kitchen on the south side that sells it.

Peanut Brittle

What I love about this brittle recipe is how versatile it is. You make the base recipe and then add the nuts and or seasoning you have on hand or prefer. My favourite is to add chopped peanuts and red pepper flakes. The brittle is sweet with some heat! If you just want to have standard brittle omit the seasoning and add nuts. Be sure you have a candy thermometer before you make this recipe.

Skor Hazelnut and Chocolate Shortbread

I found this recipe on Safeway's Table Talk website. It's the first time I made these and the few that I sampled were scrumptious.  The nice thing about this recipe is that you can make the dough, roll it into a log and then freeze it. You can make logs ahead of time and decorate them after baking in whatever way you wish.
Yield: 32 - 36 cookies

Salted Caramel Apple Pie

This recipe is from the Pioneer Women's website but I used home-made salted caramel sauce instead of regular store bought. Serve this pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. YUM!!.
